The antibody reacts with keratins 1,5,10, and 14. In normal tissue, the antibody labels squamous, ductal, and other complex epithelia. The antibody has variable positivity to adenocarcinomas. The most useful application of the antibody was described in the differential diagnosis of basal cell hyperplasia and atypical adenomatous hyperplasia of the prostate. The antibody labels benign basal cells of prostate acinibut not prostate adenocarcinoma. In thyroid neoplasm, positivity was reported to be confined to papillary carcinoma, whereas follicular neoplasms are negative.
